9/23/2012 stash report

This is a twin of a quilt I finished last week. This one is also going to Sarah's Ministry. I am counting 9.66 yards out for this  quilt. This quilt I took four blocks and turned them vertical and horizonal. Last weeks quilt each row was changed.

This was last week's quilt.

I received 100 5 inch charms (2 of each) from a
I SPY Swap with Jennifer, who has recently moved to Hawaii and opened a online fabric shop.  I am adding 2 yards in this week from the swap.

These dresser runners were part of my "Summer of Done" goals. Just finished. Used 2.5 yards. They are part of my mother's Christmas present. I made her a quilt out of this fabric when she first moved from California to Tennessee 8 years ago.

I am counting this as a #3 below, but not in the finished quilt total.

9-16-12 Stash Report

This quilt is made from the July/August issue of Quiltmaker.
The name is "Old Glory".
Pattern was easy to follow and the top went together quickly. I used the raw applique method to attach the stars. Would also make a cute valentine quilt with hearts instead of stars.

This quilt is going to Colorado to Alycia's.

The pattern for this quilt is from The Fat Quarter Shop "Color Me Crayons". Another simple pattern and it looks good too. I can see more of these quilts in the future - a three by three block would make a great baby quilt. A 5 x 5 block would make a great bed size quilt. I used left over 2.5 inch batik strips from other quilts to make this quilt. The blocks are 19 inches square.

Bill asked if we could keep this one - perfect quilt for a guy, blues, greens and browns.

While looking through the glove box in the car, I found a list I had made back in June of 2010 - here it is:
I like making easy quilts - still do

I like making scrap quilts - still do

I like having lots of fabric - still do but trying hard not to purchase any

I want to learn to paper piece - nope - maybe in 2013

I like donating quilts - still do

I like making I Spy quilts - still do

I want to make a Christmas quilt - haven't done it yet

I want to make a red and white quilt - haven't done it yet

I want to make a red, white and black quilt - haven't done it yet

I kinda want to learn to do Pantos - the first couple of tries make me car sick, like when I was 5 years old and going on a curvy mountain road - not yet

I need to finish Margaret's quilt - done

In 2011 I want to quilt all the tops in the closet - done

In 2011 I'll completely finish a quilt before beginning a new one - did it and still doing it (quilting and all)

In 2011 no top will be put in the closet - not one top made it into the closet since the beginning of 2011

In 2011 every other quilt will be one that is already started - nope

In 2011 I will join a guild or start a quilt group - nope

It was interesting to look back and see my likes and goals - did good on a few, some have stayed the same and I still need to work on others. I am pretty content with my quilting life.

I did purchase 1 yard of this fabric.....

The gal who did some behavioral training with a couple of my dogs also does search and rescue - along with her dogs she worked at 9/11 - they also worked in New Orleans - 2-3 times a year she is called for search and rescue. She also has two horses that are trained in search and rescue. The quilt I have in mind is simple and will display a large portion of this fabric. I know she will love it - just need to finish up a few other quilts and I can begin this one.

I made two of the next quilt. I will be quilting it's twin tomorrow. This one is going to Sarah's Ministry.

Stash Report - September 2, 2012

This QOV was made from the pattern "Migration" from The Quilt Asylum. It is a fun quilt to make. The pattern doesn't include the red border, I added it to make the quilt a bit bigger. The background has little red stars and the red border has little white stars. This quilt is going to Colorado. The quilt is 60x75.

I tried two different ways to make the geese - Wing Clipper by Deb Tucker and Fit To Be Geese by Open Gate. I ended up using Wing Clipper's direction for making the geese and Open Gate's ruler for squaring them up. Worked great - perfect geese every time.

This next quilt is going to Sarah's Church Ministry.

The pattern is Glory Bound by Paula Barnes. It was a fun quilt to piece and after trimming all the large 1/2 sq triangles it went together pretty quick. I did not make the smaller star points as 1/2 sq triangles, I left the geese part in one piece as I wanted to use some 2.5 inch squares I already had. 64x64 before washing. Great pattern to use up some scraps or precuts.
