Stash Report - August 26, 2012

It seems as though my "Summer of Done" project was a flop. I got a few quilts made but was hoping to have at least ten finished.

This QOV is off to Alycia. I promised her the pattern and then decided I should send a quilt along with the pattern. I love seeing the pictures Alycia shows on her blog. There is no greater feeling than seeing a quilt I made wrapped around one of our Heros, it is an honor to provide quilts for these men and women.

Saw this quilt being made on a You Tube from Missouri Star Quilt Company and had to make one. I found a Phenomenal Fall jelly roll without any lights or whites in it from Green Fairy Quilts which was just perfect. Used all the strips but one.

This one I am keeping - it will make a great snuggle quilt - finished at 72x80 before washing.

I am thinking ahead to next year's quilting goals, what I want to accomplish, how much fabric I might use from my stash, how much I might purchase, etc. I think my goal for 2013 is that there will be no goals! Subject to change, of course.

Used YTD - 276.08 yards

Added YTD - 91 yards

Net Used YTD - 185.08 yards

Quilts finished in 2012 - 32

My goals for 2012 are simple~

1 - make one QOV each month.
Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  June  July  Aug  Sept  Oct  Nov  Dec
2 - make one quilt for Ronald McDonald's House each month
Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  June  July  Aug  Sept  Oct  Nov  Dec plus 2
3 - finish one already started quilt each month (have about 20 of these, some more than 6 years old)
Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  June  July  Aug  Sept  Oct  Nov  Dec
4 - if I complete the above 3 goals each month I can start one new quilt

Look at you go...all of those months crossed through as completed....and then some! this is my first year of keeping track, yardage in and out. the numbers are surprising. In November I will take a good look and then set some reasonable goals...no sense in getting depressed because the bar is too high!

I really like your QOV quilt. I too feel as you do about making quilts for our brave soldiers who give so much. My goals were similar to yours, but you have done much better. I've gotten side-tracked a bit in some of my categories. I like the way you posted them. May I copy that idea for a future post for myself? It might make me get moving faster! It's hard to make my goals when I'm helping others reach theirs, but I will keep trying.

PS. I forgot to mention that I have a beginner friend who I know would like one of the beginner patterns for either a quilt or bag. Thanks much for the offer.

I am blown away by all your QOV's. You have inspired me to set a goal to make 6 during 2013. I am working on one now that was the most recent mystery quilt on MysteryQuilts4Military, a yahoo group that I belong to. It is my second mystery with them this year. That was the first mystery I had made and now I'm hooked.

Gracious, your numbers are astounding! That's terrific work ... mine are just the opposite. LOL! Your "cuddle quilt" is gorgeous -- love those colors -- I may have to check out that line! :)

I really like the simplicity of your quilt you made with the pre-cut strips. Sometimes simple is amazingly beautiful. :-) Congrats on the stash used so far...you're doing great!
