QOV #1 ~ Project Sheets ~ Baby Quilt ~ Couch

Taryn over at "From Pixels to Patchwork" created some project sheets to help keep track of where you are on a certain quilt.

You can find the free downloads here -

Going through my UFOs I found a Hunter's Star quilt that I know I started way back in 1994-95 when we lived in California. When I got it out I thought I would continue to make more blocks so it would fit our bed. After looking at it for awhile and reading my notes, amazed that the notes were still there, I realized there wasn't enough fabric to make 52 more blocks.

I decided to finish it using the blocks I already had made and use it as a QOV.

And the presentation case...

I also made a cute baby quilt out of blue and yellow flannel pre cut charms...
And the back, which is just too cute...

Bill decided that he might want a boat to use on our small lake (large pond). He went looking and came home with this couch -
It has four recliners and 4 cup holders. It certainly isn't something I would buy. The price was really good ($450) and it was brand new. Never dreamed I would have a couch with cup holders!!!!!!! Though it does come in handy to hold my seam ripper! Bill loves it.

Going through more bins I came across a quilt started back in 2008.

The top is half finished and a few of the remaining segments are complete. I have no desire to finish this one. This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern and I just happened to know of a Bonnie Hunter fan and this is on it's way to her!

Really feels good to find new homes for some of the older quilts I no longer want to finish.

At the library this morning there are 9 patrons. All 9 of us are either using our own computers or the library computers. Guess I am not the only one who doesn't have the internet at their home in our county.

Travel Pillows.....

The USO at the Nashville airport contacted the fun guild I belong to and ask asked for a couple of quilts and some travel pillows.

I made cases for two travel pillows. I bought the pillows at Walmart for $2.37 each. The fabric I already had. The main fabric I cut 17x28, the cuff 8x28 and the trim was 2x28. I used the hotdog method to make the cases.

I hope that they make a solider's flight much more comfortable.

For the not-so-fun guild I am donating 80 blocks I made about 8-10 years ago, maybe even longer. I cannot remember what plans I had for these blocks. I have so many projects already started that I don't mind passing these along to someone else to finish into a quilt.

Thinking about letting go of some other projects so I can work on some quilts I really want to make. I have too many patterns I want to make.

I finally found the fabric for the QOV that needs binding.

Not fully back into the quilting mode, working at it slowly, a bit each day.

What's New???

Not much is new - really. Almost finished unpacking. Can't find homes for everything. We have 1000 sq ft less now. Took 6 car loads of stuff to the community help center. Still have too much stuff.

Finally getting back into quilting! Thought I had lost all desire.

I am volunteering at the Historian's office, helping folks to find their ancestors. I am also transcribing old records. I am enjoying my time there.

I can't believe I put myself out there and joined TWO guilds. One seems like it is going to be loads of fun and the other one not so much.  This is truly a big step for me.

The fun guild is making pillowcases for a children's home and since I don't have a machine to take to meetings (yet) I made 17 at home and  I will help with the ironing during the meeting.

Used 17 yards of fabric! One box of fabric that I didn't have to unpack and find a home for.

Since we have no Internet at our home and I have to drive 15 miles to the library to use their Internet I will not be posting to JudyL's stash reports. I think the reports really helps me see my progress and I will still keep a running total here.

Here are a few pictures of my sewing area - - - -
Still tweaking.....On the right are 4 shelf units that hold most of my fabric. straight back is my sewing table, to the left is the long arm. The white thing on the back wall is my heater/AC. The bookcase holds my books and bolts of fabric on the bottom.
You can already see my cutting table is a mess! More boxes that need to be unpacked. Still looking for a box of rulers...

Trying to get everything where I can find it. The bottom cabinets I had in my old sewing room. The top cabinets Bill had in his stained glass room.

This is where my ironing board (which is upside down) will go. The bookcase holds backing fabrics. Even more boxes waiting to be unpack.

Finally got the TV set up! Now I can watch reruns of Bones and NCIS while piecing! Love the laminate floor as it is so easy to take care of.

Hoping to find the binding for a QOV this week. I have two tops that need quilting and a baby quilt that needs binding.

Feels good to be back making quilts.
