9-16-12 Stash Report

This quilt is made from the July/August issue of Quiltmaker.
The name is "Old Glory".
Pattern was easy to follow and the top went together quickly. I used the raw applique method to attach the stars. Would also make a cute valentine quilt with hearts instead of stars.

This quilt is going to Colorado to Alycia's.

The pattern for this quilt is from The Fat Quarter Shop "Color Me Crayons". Another simple pattern and it looks good too. I can see more of these quilts in the future - a three by three block would make a great baby quilt. A 5 x 5 block would make a great bed size quilt. I used left over 2.5 inch batik strips from other quilts to make this quilt. The blocks are 19 inches square.

Bill asked if we could keep this one - perfect quilt for a guy, blues, greens and browns.

While looking through the glove box in the car, I found a list I had made back in June of 2010 - here it is:
I like making easy quilts - still do

I like making scrap quilts - still do

I like having lots of fabric - still do but trying hard not to purchase any

I want to learn to paper piece - nope - maybe in 2013

I like donating quilts - still do

I like making I Spy quilts - still do

I want to make a Christmas quilt - haven't done it yet

I want to make a red and white quilt - haven't done it yet

I want to make a red, white and black quilt - haven't done it yet

I kinda want to learn to do Pantos - the first couple of tries make me car sick, like when I was 5 years old and going on a curvy mountain road - not yet

I need to finish Margaret's quilt - done

In 2011 I want to quilt all the tops in the closet - done

In 2011 I'll completely finish a quilt before beginning a new one - did it and still doing it (quilting and all)

In 2011 no top will be put in the closet - not one top made it into the closet since the beginning of 2011

In 2011 every other quilt will be one that is already started - nope

In 2011 I will join a guild or start a quilt group - nope

It was interesting to look back and see my likes and goals - did good on a few, some have stayed the same and I still need to work on others. I am pretty content with my quilting life.

I did purchase 1 yard of this fabric.....

The gal who did some behavioral training with a couple of my dogs also does search and rescue - along with her dogs she worked at 9/11 - they also worked in New Orleans - 2-3 times a year she is called for search and rescue. She also has two horses that are trained in search and rescue. The quilt I have in mind is simple and will display a large portion of this fabric. I know she will love it - just need to finish up a few other quilts and I can begin this one.

I made two of the next quilt. I will be quilting it's twin tomorrow. This one is going to Sarah's Ministry.

Used - 318.46 yards

Added - 92 yards

Net Used YTD - 226.46 yards

Quilts finished in 2012 - 37

My goals for 2012 are simple~

1 - make one QOV each month.
Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  June  July  Aug  Sept  Oct  Nov  Dec

2 - make one quilt for Ronald McDonald's House each month
Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  June  July  Aug  Sept  Oct  Nov  Dec plus 2

3 - finish one already started quilt each month
Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  June  July  Aug  Sept  Oct  Nov  Dec

4 - if I complete the above 3 goals each month I can start one new quilt

I like that not only are you a goal setter, but you really strive to meet (or exceed!) those goals. Good for you! The Color Me Crayons quilt is wonderful -- and you're right, a nice, soft masculine feel. The one you're quilting for Sarah's ministry is terrific too!! :)

You do such good work, both in and out of the quilt room!

I really like your first 2 quilts especially because they look easy and will be good for my goals too - but yours are a bit more aggressive. Thanks so much for sharing their names. I'm going to look up the Crayons one right now. I love using left over pieces to make "new" quilts. Thanks so much. Your stash numbers are fantastic - wish mine were similar.

*Old Glory* is a quilt that I want to make, too. Glad to hear that it goes together easy! :)

Beautiful quilts. Love your goals. You've had a really good year goal and stash management wise. Congrats.
